The summer 1977 Rare five piece line-up photo taken @ THE Crash ‘n’ Burn. photo Bill Piton
This was shot in 1978 outside the dressing room at the El Mocombo. Note: John Catto is missing from the photo as he was evicted from the club moments before this was taken due to some A-hole security guard not recognising him.
This is where it all began!!! The first Diodes gig supporting The Talking Heads January 1977 at OCA
Shot taken in 1978 in our rehearsal space across from the Peter Pan Restaurant on Queen St W.
Along with Robert Mapplethorpe Jimmy De Sana was one of the best known photographers of his generation. Here is a shot of The Diodes taken in New York with Jimmy Photo-bombing the shot. This shoot was for the Punk Issue of File Magazine. Summer 1977. We played our first gig at CBGBs later that night.

Blow Up Montreal Vol1 No 9 from 1980. This is kind of an interesting interview from Daniel Richler. Quite a bit of insight into where our heads were at that exact moment in time. And lots of ‘factoids” that I’m really not sure where they came from, like where did I hear that Bun E. Carlos collected us. Maybe someone in LA, we’d just been there. Unlike most of my friends though ( ha ha) I don’t just make crap up so it probably came from somewhere!
Early Toronto Punk History piece from Dave Bidini. Not sure of the paper or date, maybe early 90s. I think this was the article that started the “William Gibson was at the Crash ‘n’ Burn” rumour!
